Spaces + Places: Where We Gather
Trinity’s “Garden” is an open-air courtyard located adjacent to the Commons. Visible through the wall of windows, it is highlighted by a unique, larger-than-life statue of Christ created by local Lindsborg sculptor Malcolm Esping. An area designed to be shared by young and old alike, it includes garden furnishings and is seasonally decorated with plants and flowers, a wonderful place for conversation, a cup of coffee, or quiet meditation. [The statue of Christ has been nicknamed “Flamingo Jesus”; see if you can figure out why!]
Trinity’s “Commons” is the welcoming area of our facility, centered between the Heritage Chapel, Fellowship Hall and the sanctuary. Originally two distinct areas, the parlor/library and vestibule, a “temporary wall” separating the areas was removed to offer a more open expanded useable space. Improved lighting in the vestibule and more user-friendly furniture and floor covering in the former parlor/library has given us a more open, welcoming space in which to gather as “family” before and after worship as well as for small group meetings, gatherings, and special occasions.
